Fringe! on Friday kicks off with an eclectic and exciting shorts programme. From the bizarre to the sublime, we are delighted to present the UK premières of:

  • Inside Out’ (U.K) Liz Helman’s new exploration of gender stereotypes
  • Water  Wells’ Iyar Dyoman & Sivan Levy (Israel) A moving and gorgeously shot foray into forbidden love. Fresh from the awesome Lethal Lesbians Reloaded Festival in Tel Aviv.
  • Mirrors’ Liz Rosenfeld (Berlin/ U.S) An experimental video addressing Femme/ Faggot identification and compartmentalized identity within queerness.
  • ‘Lie Together‘ Jeanette L. Buck (U.S) A chronicle of a couple’s relationship as the past, present and the potential collide. Official Selection: San Francisco Frameline; LA Outfest; Chicago Reeling; New Zealand Out Takes; Melbourne Queer Film Festival, Official Selection list:  Athens International Film and Video Fest and Michigan Womyn’s Music Festival.
  • Tools 4 Fools‘ Kate Brandt (U.S) Ingeniously entreprenurial? Sexy silione sillliness? An infomercial about extreme and subversive recycling. Shortlisted for the 2010 Iris Prize! Best Short Film (Merlinka International Queer Film Festival, Belgrade, Serbia) Best Female Short Audience Award (Long Island Gay & Lesbian Film Festival), Best of the Fest: GLBT Favorites (Palm Springs International ShortFest), Winner, aGLIFF Audience Award for Best Narrative Short (Austin Gay & Lesbian International Film ), Best of the Fest (Pittsburgh PrideFest) Two-time winner, Audience Choice Award (Good Vibrations Indie Erotic Film Festival)

This is also a rare opportunity to catch the work of the work two of East London’s awesome women filmmakers: the mesmeric ‘War With Love‘ (by accomplished DIY’er and polymath, Val Phoenix) and the exquisite ‘Homecoming” & ‘Tatyana & Vera in Underground Forest (aka A Woodcutter’s Tale)’- the latter exploring the darker side of lesbian love in the shadows of a forest, both by the talented Hannah Beadman.

The hour-long programme will start at 1930h and will repeat throughout the night at 9pm and 11pm
